Our Back to School Program in Calgary started this year with out first campaign sending 100 children back to school. This project builds off of our 12 year history of sending children in poverty back to school in Burundi and Rwanda. We are excited to be able to serve the people of Calgary and help ensure that every child has the opportunity to receive an education. After our first event of this program, we have given away 150 backpacks to children in need to support their return back to school. Join our 2024 Back to School Campaign!
Help us uplift communities by breaking down barriers. Education is a vital tool in breaking the cycle of poverty. Since our inception, we have sent 950 children back to school in East Africa through 11 successful Back To School Campaigns. This year we are reaching even higher and further. Our goal is to raise $10,000 before September 2nd 2023 to send 200 children back to school – 100 in Burundi, East Africa, and 100 in Calgary, Canada. You can show your support in a variety of ways: donate online, help spread the word, or bring in new school supplies to our Calgary office for donation! In Burundi, supporting one student costs only $50, providing them with essential items like school supplies, uniform, backpack, and shoes. Meanwhile, in Calgary, the cost per student ranges from $80 to $200, depending on the grade, which covers school supplies.
New retail school supplies are also appreciated and can be dropped at our office: 152 Skyview Point Green NE, Calgary, Alberta from 8am – 6pm Monday to Friday.
